Academic Chess
Academic Chess has been teaching and fostering a passion for chess in tens of thousands of elementary students since 1994 - including the youngest National Master in U.S. history! Children participating in this program develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, have better concentration and mental discipline, gain confidence and have lots of FUN!!! Students learn chess strategies and chess openings, and work to solve chess diagrams and puzzles. The instructors are devoted to promoting the merits of chess among children by using stories, dances, and catchy songs to make the game of chess exciting and easy to understand. Each week, the instructor brings chess books, prizes and years of experience.
The program runs for 8 weeks per session beginning in September, January, and April and is 1 hour long in duration. The class consists of 30 minutes of chess lessons and 30 minutes of playing time. To register, or for more information, visit their website at: http://www.academicchess.net
