Montessori Education Week: Day #2
In honor of this week, we would like to show parents and families what a day in the life of a Montessori student really looks like:
Here is 4-year old student Jackson Palmer as he goes through a 3-hour work cycle at Dundas Valley Montessori School in Canada. One thing you may notice is his independence and his ability to complete tasks without a teacher's explicit instructions. He also works wonderfully with his peers and enjoys their company without the management of an adult.
He is able to complete tasks, collaborate freely and take care of himself throughout the lunch and clean-up period--all on his own!
In the words of Maria Montessori, “Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed.”
